Tired of eating sprouts, I wanted to use the whole green moong in a different way. I know that we could make dal tadka but thats time consuming....wanted to make something quickly. All the mommies with lil ones would echo my sentiments of quick n easy cooking...
So I thought of making a pancake out of it. And with some research figured out that it is already a staple breakfast dish in Andhra Pradesh called Pesarattu...So here is my version. Quick Snack!!!!
Ingredients:
To be grounded into a paste
1 cup Whole Green Moong Dal - soaked overnight
2 green chillies
1" ginger
cumin seeds - 1 tsp
salt as per taste
1 tbsp rice flour (it helps in making it crispy)
Water as required
To spread on the batter
Grated carrot, onion and capsicum (you can skip these and have it plain with tomato ketchup too or add more as per your choice n taste)
Oil to fry the dosas
Method:
Grind together all the above ingredients with little water to get a dosa batter consistency. Heat a non stick tawa and spread a ladle full of batter on it. Swirl and spread it like you would do for a thin dosa. You can even make a thicker version. Now spread the grated vegetables on the dosa and sprinkle oil on the sides and top. Let it cook for 3-4 mins. Using a thin spatula bring out the dosa and serve it hot with a chutney/sauce of your choice.
Tip: You can mix the veggies in the batter and make it like uthappam too:-)
So???? What's your breakfast tomorrow? :-)
